One December day I walked out to the living room to find R. with the Fisher Price Loving Family mom and dad doing this:
He was kind of wiggling them and doing something with their arms. I was thinking 'oh great! do we need to talk?!'
So I asked him nonchalantly what he was doing. I tried to keep my voice and face cheerful so as not to 'scare' him and make him think he was in trouble. At first he said he didn't know and acted sort of 'caught'. I told him it was fine, I was just wondering. He replied sheepishly that it was something he read in a book. Now this boy spends a LOT of time reading so I could only imagine what was going on, right?!
He tore off to his bedroom and came back with this book:
Needless to say, I was a little confused!
He opened up to the table of contents:
Found what he was looking for and turned to this page:
"Right here", he says, pointing to this picture:
"I was trying to make them do an elephant shadow!"
LOL!!! Can you say 'WHEW!' ?

That just made me laugh! The whole time I was reading I was wondering "how is this going to turn out?" :) We have that same mommy & daddy...but we don't have that book so I am pretty sure we won't have that episode around here! :)
LOL!!! I am cracking up...I was thinking along the same lines you were!!! Praise God for innocent play! It is a good reminder tho that the day to be open with our children always comes before we think it should or before we feel ready!!
Hey girl. This made me crack up, but SOOOO R. Miss you guys.
