blogger block, randomness, and request for prayers

Obviously I either haven't had anything to blog about or haven't had the time to do it...or a combination of both! I am continually amazed at how busy doing nothing in particular can really be! We still have family Christmas get-togethers coming up--two this weekend and one next weekend.

Last Thursday I was able to do something REALLY fun for my husband! You see, we 'got' each other ski's for Christmas (funny, but we couldn't fit them in our stockings!) and had been really wanting to use them. Well, early last week the weather forecast was looking great for Thursday or Friday to go skiing. He wanted to be able to take off work after lunch on Friday, but it wasn't going to work out with his work schedule. I wasn't really in to it on Thursday just because both of my 'usual' babysitters weren't really available. Besides it was supposed to be really cold! So, mid day Thursday, about 11am, I get this bright idea in my head. Like duh! my brother and sis-in-law live about halfway between here and where we would go skiing! So I call her up and find out it works for her to keep our kiddos! I very slyly sent Eric an instant message on the computer asking when he would be done with work. He replied about 5pm--perfect!
Now you see, we have a project we've slowly been working on for the Christmases that are coming up. Since time is closing in, it was time to get them finished. We needed paint. So, I talk to Eric and tell him that I'm going to stop at Lowe's and get the paint, them come to the shop where he works so we could finish our project. My s-i-l was planning to clean the shop there that eve, so it worked out perfect. I would meet her there, she would keep the kids, and I would whisk my husband away on a surprise skiing date!
Upon arrival, I brought in the paint and 'our supper' (which was actually for the kids and my brother's family). I told him I had another load and asked if he would kindly take the supper and put it in the refrigerator. While he was doing that, I brought in a clothes basket full of all our skiing gear! He walked back into the office and I said, "Surprise! We're going skiing!" It took a little bit to convince him that I wasn't joking! What fun! I love doing things like that!
It was a very cold night, but so much fun! I even went down a double black diamond trail! But it really was more like a California blue square :0) I had only ever been skiing out there on the REAL mountains at REAL ski resorts, so this was definitely different in the East--on what I would call a small hill. It was still worth it and we are planning our next trip soon!

Go do something random and spontaneous with your spouse this week! Just see what it can do for your relationship!

NOW DOWN TO BUSINESS WITH SOMETHING SERIOUS!

Abby (Click the 'Praying for Abby' button on my sidebar) begins the most aggressive phase of her treatment tomorrow. PLEASE PRAY FOR HER AND HER FAMILY. She has a 20% chance of survival through this phase and if she makes it through, may have to do it again.

Our G. looks a lot like Abby. They were both born in Guatemala and both came home to their forever familys at 6 months old. Abby is only a few months older than G. This really brings it closer to home for me. I just can't even imagine...

Thanks for storming the Throne Room with your prayers on behalf of Abby and the rest of the Riggs family.
