bits and pieces...

I'm finally feeling better...if you don't count the coughing and blowing tons of junk out of my nose....sorry, TMI!!! It really has been nasty and SO many people are getting it around here. So far the kiddos haven't gotten anything worse, no fever or anything, so I guess we're good for now.

One good thing that came from being sick--I lost a couple pounds :0) Unfortunately they will probably find their way back over Christmas, but I sure hope not!

Over the weekend I finished knitting this prayer shawl I'd been working on for our church prayer shawl ministry.

I had some left over yarn, so I made this! I think it turned out alright! It fits Eric or I, or I may give it away....

I also had left over yarn from all the scarves I made last Christmas for gifts. So I made this baby hat too...not sure I overly like it, but it was fun none-the-less!

YAY!!! We are finished with school until January 5th!!! We got it done this morning and boy does it ever feel good! The boys are excited too!

A break will definitely be good for us. and I hope to hit it hard again and with more dedication than I've had lately.

May you be blessed this CHRISTmas season!

PS: I've got some funnies to post when I find the time! Check back soon for some laughs!

sick of being sick....

Here it is, the middle of the night again, and I can't sleep...again. I'm getting just a little tired of this! no pun intented :0)

It all started Tuesday night and now it's early Saturday morning and I'm still sick. Been running a low-grade fever, congestion, headache, all-over body aches, etc. And now starting into my chest. I haven't been able to sleep more than a few hours at night. I'm beginning to wonder just how long this is going to go on!

I also fear that at least two of the kiddos may be coming down with the same thing...oh dear...

What warms my heart though, is that yesterday (Friday) G. lay in bed with me for at least a half hour, hugging me and telling me over and over, 'I looovvve yooouuuu!' in her sweet, little voice! Even though I was feeling raunchy, it made my day! She's so precious.

Also, every day since I got sick, R. has been praying for me to get better. He so sweetly did his school work on Wednesday while I was napping and when I got up he lovingly informed me that he had prayed for me to get better. And he hasn't stopped since.....gotta love that boy! He has such a tender and caring heart (most of the time!)

So what is one supposed to do while awake (with no sleep in sight) in the middle of the night? There are a multitude of people I could pray for, there is a Bible nearby, there is always tons of housework that I'm WAY behind on....

I do believe the best option is 'God-time'...and so often I fail in getting my priorities in the right order. So, I leave you now for some all-important Father-Daughter time!

And the next time you can't sleep, try spending time with the One relationship that truly matters!

Ta ta for now...

A little bird told me....

...that it was high time for another post from me! (you know who you are!)

Life has been crazy, busy lately. I'm actually not sure when it's not!

I don't have much to say, except this: If you are in need of a great book to snuggle up under a blanket with during the cold, winter months, then I HIGHLY suggest "The Shack" by William P. Young.

Though it may take a little bit to actually get 'into' the story in the beginning, it is an amazing, amazing book. I can't say much about it as I don't want to 'ruin' it for you, but it tells of one man's weekend at a shack where he meets God. The book will stretch your mind and pave the way for a desire to know our Father ('Papa') in a
deeper, more intimate way. Several chapters, even paragraphs and sentences, I had to reread and reread to fully comprehend the depth of what was being said. I just finished it a little over a week ago and I'm ready to read it again!--it's just that good!

So, if you haven't read it yet, get out to the bookstore or library to find it. Or better yet, put it on your Christmas list!

Have a blessed weekend!
