pool.fun--obx 1

After looking through the several hundred pictures of our trip, it didn't take me long to realize that I am going to be doing several posts! We obviously took tons of pictures and so many of them are really good! Rather than do posts by individual days, I think I'll go by topics instead.

Obviously today is about fun in the pool! I think that was the highlight of the trip for the kids! There was a kiddie pool that had a waterfall into the big pool. It was heated, so it was like swimming in bathwater! I didn't get a picture of it, but there was even a tiki bar by the pool with a little refrigerator in it!

You'd never know by watching R. that he used to be terrified of water! So far, the three years of swimming lessons have paid off! I do believe he's ready for the advanced class finally! He had so much fun diving with Eric, it was just a joy to watch him!

I. goofed off in his own little way. He's only had one year of swimming lessons and spent most of his time in the kiddie pool or floating in a ring in the big pool. He had a blast though!

G. loved every minute of being in the water (and at the beach...and eating....come to think of it, I don't know if there was anything she didn't enjoy! Except maybe bedtime!). There are several things now I can think of that I wish I would have gotten pictures of. She loved being in the big pool with us (she of course had floaties on her arms!). I shoulda got one of her 'swimming' with Eric--it was so cute!

Oh, and me? I never had swimming lessons as a kid and have never known how to swim. Until last week! THAT was fun!

I've been fairly 'wordy', but now I'm going to let it be Wordless Wednesday for the pictures! Enjoy!

not me monday.round three

In spite of what you may have heard, this past week I most certainly did not not post a not me monday because I was on vacation in the OBX and I didn't just not feel like posting. Besides, there most certainly was not internet access and a friends laptop available for me to post anyway! And since there wasn't internet access or a computer there, I in no way spent any time reading MckMama's blog. I mean really, I was on vacation and I certainly didn't remember any of the blogs I usually read, nor did I care whether they had new posts or not.

Every day last week I did not do absolutely nothing and love doing it. How boring of a vacation would that be anyway?!

I did not allow my daughter to not take naps because she was not enjoying the kiddie pool anyway.

And I most certainly did not fall asleep while listening to the presidential debate and then I did not stumble half asleep downstairs to get in bed. That same night, I did not forget that I had pork loin and mashed potato casserole thawing on the counter top for the next day for dinner. I definitely remembered to put it in the fridge before stumbling to bed. It didn't set out on the counter all night, nor did it spoil and we really enjoyed our pork and potatoes for dinner the next day. (Man, I'm still mad about that one!)

I did not spend large amounts of time soaking in the sun, and I did not come home tanner than I've been all summer. I'm white as a sheet...such a shame. Little Miss G. doesn't have tan lines either, she's really pale looking...almost sickly.

I really just did not enjoy my week, and I wouldn't want to do it again.

Home Again!

What a wonderful week we had on the Outer Banks!!! We just arrived home about a half hour ago! Thank you Lord, for our safe travels and vacation time there!

I will not be long tonight, but wanted to check in with all who might be wondering where I went (ha ha hee hee ho ha---as if there are tons of readers dying to know why I haven't posted for over a week :0) ).

Our time was fabulous, relaxing, and SO MUCH FUN! Aaaaannnndddddd, I have a bajillion pictures to upload and post! I promise to find the time to post pictures of our trip in the four days that I have to do the following: unpack, do laundry, homeschool the boys, organize and REpack to leave for California!!! Not to mention things like fixing meals, etc....... but we'll get it done!

from boring 2 beautiful...

So, I bought this dress on clearance awhile back, knowing that I needed to do something with it since it was just too short (for me anyway!), but I loved the dress...




I found some fabric to go with it and it laid around for, well, until tonight. Despite the fact that I have a ton of things to do before we head to the OBX this weekend, I got the crazy notion in my head to try and get it done today.

A couple hours later, with multiple interruptions such as stopping for supper, bathing the kids, getting them in bed, phone calls, etc, I now have THIS!



The sash is not attached, just pinned in place for the picture--hence the unevenness. Although, the empire waistline does curve up in the middle... I'm really liking it!

Thanks to a great friend for getting my creative bug going today! (you know who you are :0) )

Oh, and just in case the question enters your mind....NO, it is not a maternity dress!!!

Last week we got a box in the mail from Uncle D. and Aunt C. with the boys' jackets for the wedding. Inside was a pretty pink package for G.--a belated birthday present! What fun! Thank you oodles!

I wish you could have heard her voice...she was so excited to get another birthday present!

Sigh, she is growing up too fast...I was looking at her baby pictures with her earlier today, and can't believe how quickly the time has gone. (and this very bad mom needs to get started on her scrapbook...yes, I said started...)

not me monday.round two

This week I did not.....

I did not......allow my 3y.o. daughter to wear the same exact dress for 3 days. and I sleep later than her on those three days only to find that she was already dressed when I got up. DID NOTand I did not not care or want to make her change since there really wasn't any big stains on the dress. What kind of parent would do that anyway?

I did not......on above said days stay up WAY too late the night before doing not-so-important things.

I did not......throw my hair back into a pony tail because I didn't feel like washing it. I mean, how gross would that be?!

I did not......have to rewash a load of towels because I forgot about them and left them in the washer.

I did not......take off shopping all afternoon and evening on Saturday with a friend when I really should have been home cleaning and straightening things up. I'm way too level headed to do something like that. I also did not buy things I really did not not need because I already told you that I did not go!
