This is the front of the Resort...lobby/restaurant.
Out the back of the lobby/restaurant area...facing the pool/beach.
A view of the gardens between two of the buildings.
Ahh, the pool....
Our favorite spot to hang...literally.
Straight up from above said favorite spot...wow, I miss that view!
The hot tub/spa where we would sit almost every night, soothing tired muscles. We'd sit here until we got too hot, then go swing in the hammock until we got cold. I have an intense longing for a hammock now.... If you look close, you can see the chains and part of 'our' hammock--directly behind the spa....
The 'Canoe Building'--where our room was. #3308, top floor--our balcony is the third from the far end.
Beautiful white plumeria cluster outside our building.
This sign was on the parking lot end of our building...we saw it every day when we left our room. Oh, and yeah, we pretty much enjoyed every day in paradise!
Miles and miles of clear blue water. More coastline shots at the resort.
Can't you just hear that splash?!
After walking around, we went back to our room for 'lunch'. It consisted of leftover steak and potatoes from the night before, homemade salsa w/ chips and B&J's Margarita. Not too shabby! Only problem was, I wasn't feeling too well.... I think it was a combination of too little sleep and too little water. I was showing some signs of moderate dehydration and got a little worried. Eric did a fabulous job taking care of me though :0) The rest of the afternoon was spent in bed...sleeping and slowing trying to replace fluids. I was weak, nauseated, dizzy, etc---NOT fun! Praise God for healing me--things got turned around before it got serious!
The combination of prayer, rest and lots of water did wonders and I felt well enough to enjoy the Lu'au Kalamaku that evening! It was an amazing theatrical performance...too much to even describe. There were 5 stages--the center, main stage and 4 smaller stages throughout the building. They told the story of the Polynesians coming to the Hawai'ian Islands...of lovers who were separated, then reunited and married (aww!)...all through song, dance and storytelling.
Lovers by a huge anchor. Our love and marriage is anchored in the Lord!
The amazing musical performers....they sang the doxology in Hawai'ian before we ate...it was beautiful! This link is not of them singing, but will give you a taste of the song anyway...
Getting the kalua pork out of the imu (underground oven)...
...And marching it inside.
YUMMY food! Here's a link to the menu. Go ahead, check it out....you know you want to! Be careful not to drool on your keyboard though... My favorites were the Mahi Mahi and the Coconut Smashed Purple Sweet Potatoes. Oops, pardon me while I wipe up my OWN drool.....
It is so cool to see how God orchestrates who we meet in our daily lives...at our table were two ladies, sisters, that we visited with. One lives about 2 hours from us! And, we found out that they were staying at the same resort as we were.....same building....same floor!!!...just a couple rooms away from us! It's a small world after all!
We took mostly video of the performance, so I don't have many photos of it...besides, we weren't allowed to use a flash. You can watch this though, and see a bit of the performance.
Shake it!
The fire dancers were INCREDIBLE!
The entire cast...complete with silhouetted heads of another couple at our table.
Eric and I with one of the fire dancers...they were women! I was impressed!
After we left the Lu'au, we stopped by the mall in Lihue for a coffee at Starbucks. The palm trees lining the mall entrance were all lit up...we thought they were pretty cool!
And that pretty much sums up Day 5 in Kaua'i!
